Payments Operations Analyst
A financial services team is seeking a Payments Operations Analyst for a hybrid role (3 days onsite in Charlotte, NC). The role supports wire payments (MX formatted messages), defect identification and resolution, operational reporting, and executive communications in a regulated banking environment.
This is a high-impact opportunity where you’ll be directly plugged into fast-moving payments operations supporting critical banking activity. You’ll be part of a team that keeps wire payment processes running smoothly, works closely with multiple business and technology partners, and helps drive clarity and speed in resolving operational issues. You’ll get exposure to senior stakeholders, real-time decision support, and daily collaboration across cross-functional teams. Skills & Responsibilities
Support payments operations by identifying, tracking, updating, and prioritizing defects and operational issues through resolution.
Review and analyze wire payment activity, including MX / ISO 20022 formatted messages.
Build executive reporting packages, dashboards, burndown charts, and presentation materials for leadership.
Lead and participate in daily review meetings with business, technology, and operations partners.
Capture meeting notes, action items, risks, and follow-ups to ensure accountability and progress.
Support clear communication across teams to maintain visibility on open issues and operational priorities.
Work within established banking controls, processes, and procedures in a regulated environment. Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience supporting SWIFT, wire payments, or payments operations, including defect identification, tracking, and resolution activities.
Hands-on experience with wire payment processing and MX (ISO 20022) formatted messages.
Experience using JIRA and/or Octane for issue tracking, defect management, workflow updates, or delivery coordination.
Strong experience creating executive-level reporting, dashboards, meeting materials, summaries, and burndown charts.
Proven ability to facilitate daily operational review meetings and coordinate follow-ups across multiple internal stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present clearly to all levels of management.
High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy in reporting, documentation, and meeting follow-through.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, regulated banking environment while following established controls, policies, and procedures.
Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team-based environment.
3+ years of experience in payments operations, banking operations, risk, compliance, or a related financial services role.
Experience or familiarity with Money Transfer Systems or related payment platforms.
Strong prioritization skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities.
Ability to quickly shift between tasks, meetings, and multiple concurrent workstreams in a dynamic environment.
