Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a vital role delivering specialized nursing care within a progressive care setting. This contract position is ideal for experienced RNs who excel in managing complex patient needs typically seen post-surgery or during critical recovery phases. The unit serves patients with diverse surgical backgrounds, including hepatopancreatobiliary, womens surgery, and plastic surgery cases, demanding sharp clinical skills and a compassionate approach.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 18 months of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
- Valid RN license
- Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, drain care, central line and G/J tube management
- Skilled in managing Heparin and Cardiac drips (ACLS)
- Ability to perform patient care duties including blood draws and Foley catheter insertion/removal
- Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and telemetry monitoring equipment

Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality nursing care to a 20-bed PCU, including three progressive care beds
- Manage various complex patient needs with acuity ratios typically ranging from 1:4 to 1:6, with surge times up to 1:8
- Collaborate with a strong interdisciplinary team, including charge nurses, IV/VAT teams, and resource nurses
- Utilize technology such as Epic EMR and telemetry monitors to support patient care and safety
- Participate in a weekend rotation every other weekend with holiday work expectations
Additional Details:
- Shift options: 0645-1915 or 1845-0715, scheduled on a 6-week cycle
- Weekend rotation every other week; holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of holidays
- Free parking on-site; dress code includes navy scrubs
- Position offers a collaborative work environment with dedicated team support
- Travelers permanent address must be 50 miles outside the home unit to comply with radius rules
- Orientation includes facility onboarding and two days of departmental training
