Mechatronics Operator, Trim Profiling & Wrapping Lines
Your mission
Keep a high‑throughput automated cell producing flawless flooring trims—safely, efficiently, and to spec. You’ll blend mechanical know‑how, electrical awareness, and process control to set up, run, and sustain cutting, profiling, trimming, wrapping, and packaging operations.
How you’ll succeed
Imagine kicking off a new SKU: you perform tooling changes, calibrate stations, and configure parameters at the HMI. After a first‑piece inspection confirms dimensions and finish, you release the run and watch the data and product closely. If a vibration, temperature shift, or finish defect appears, you troubleshoot the root cause—adjusting settings, replacing wear parts, or partnering with maintenance for larger fixes. You log everything—batch details, inspections, downtime, maintenance—in line with QMS rules, and you complete preventive maintenance like cleaning, lubrication, and checks to avert issues before they start. Along the way, you collaborate with quality and engineering to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement, train newer operators, and enforce PPE and lockout/tagout without exception.
Core responsibilities
- Set up automated equipment for new runs (tooling, calibration, parameter entry).
- Operate and oversee cutting, profiling, trimming, wrapping, and packaging lines.
- Verify material setup; conduct in‑process and final inspections for visual and dimensional accuracy.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process issues to maintain flow and reduce downtime.
- Perform minor adjustments; coordinate complex repairs with maintenance.
- Complete batch records, quality checks, downtime logs, and maintenance reports per QMS.
- Execute preventive maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, and component inspections.
- Partner with quality/engineering on process improvements and corrective actions.
- Train junior operators and contribute to waste reduction and consistency improvements.
- Uphold safety standards, including PPE and lockout/tagout.
Experience & skills
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational certification preferred.
- 5–7 years running automated or CNC‑controlled machinery; flooring, wood, or building materials background preferred.
- Mechanical, electrical, and process troubleshooting expertise.
- Ability to read blueprints/drawings and use OEM manuals.
- ISO 9001 or comparable QMS experience preferred.
- Proficient with calipers, tape measures, and gauges.
- Computer literate with HMI (Human–Machine Interface) familiarity.
- Detail‑driven with strong quality and safety focus.
- Self‑starter who collaborates effectively in a team.
Physical realities
- Standing and operating machinery for 8–12 hours.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand motions.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and temperature fluctuations common to manufacturing.
Schedule
- Full‑time; may include day, evening, or weekend shifts depending on production needs.
