Machinist
Machinist
This role requires traditional machining expertise to fabricate, modify, and repair metal and composite components used in the yacht-building process. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, experienced in operating manual and CNC lathes, mills, drill presses, and other conventional machining tools.
Essential Functions:
- Operate manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other conventional machining equipment. 30%
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to produce accurate components. 10%
- Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure they meet precise tolerances and quality standards. 10%
- Modify or repair metal and composite components used in yacht construction. 10%
- Use hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators. 10%
- Perform routine maintenance on machining equipment to ensure optimal operation. 10%
- Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and production teams to meet project requirements. 10%
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols and best practices. 10%
- All other duties as assigned
Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum degree required: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred
- Preferred degree: N/A
- Certificate(s) or license(s): N/A
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in as a machinist in a manufacturing or marine related field
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively speak to groups of associates, supervisors, and managers
Travel Requirements:
- None
Physical Requirements:
Regularly walks, sits, and stands.
Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs., and does computer work.
Independent Judgement:
Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within the general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
