Jail Director of Nursing

Salary will be negotiated based on education and experience per job requirements.

Example of Duties:
This is a supervisory level professional nursing position providing primary, preventative and rehabilitative care to the inmate population in the Robeson County Detention Center. This position is responsible for assisting the Jail Health Director in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures. She/he will work independently providing management of nursing activities, referrals, and coordination of care in the jail setting. This nurse functions within the scope of practice according to the North Carolina Board of Nurses and supports the established standards of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. Works in hostile environment with detainees and inmates. Reports to the Jail Health Director.

Education and Experience:

• Associate's Degree in nursing, with 3 years of nursing and supervisory experience with administrative background or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
• Registered Nursing license and CPR certification required upon hire.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.
• Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, as well as submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants.
