Residential Counselor
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized emotional and practical support to residents, addressing personal, social, and behavioral needs
- Monitor and document residents’ progress, behavior, and overall well-being.
- Assist residents with daily living activities such as hygiene, meal preparation, and routines.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution, using de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive residential environment in compliance with policies
- Advocate for residents’ needs, help them access community resources, and support independence goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field often preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with empathy and patience.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including those with mental health needs or behavioral challenges.
- Crisis intervention and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Good organizational skills and basic proficiency with documentation.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- Certifications such as CPR/First Aid may be required or preferred.
