and pressure generation mechanisms which may be present.
  • Meet appropriate client personnel and attend pre-spud meeting if possible.
  • Confirm and plan for location at well site, if at wellsite. Preferably close to LWD and Mud
Logging units.
  • Confirm WITSML server data streaming from LWD tools and any other streaming data source
such as mud logging data (Gas, ROP etc...). Always have backup solution (webserver, USB stick).

understands the role and responsibilities of the PreVue Analyst while both onshore and

offshore.
  • Calculate vertical stress from Bulk Density (RHOB) and/or velocity data. Check if water depth
is correct and edit RHOB values for salt or carbonates if necessary. Ensure vertical stress profile is supported by all available data.
  • Calculate shale pore pressures from LWD, Mechanical, and Shale Density data (GR, Res and/or
Sonic, D-exponent, RHOB) using the current model (i.e., calibrated to all available data points),

compare it with the pre-drill predictions and identify deviations.
  • Calculate fracture gradient from real-time pore pressure and vertical stress using the current
model (i.e., calibrated to all available data points), compare it with the pre-drill predictions and

identify deviations.
  • Update pressure and fracture models as new information (LOT's, MDTs, RFTs, WL data, etc.)
becomes available. All changes to the models, for calibration purposes, should be reviewed

and approved by the Client Team before publishing a report on pore pressure estimations for

the project.
  • Consult pre-drill PPFG predictions frequently and insert plots in all reports.
  • Provide a prognosis as to what magnitudes of pore pressure and fracture gradients are
expected ahead of the bit (if offset wells and seismic data are available).
  • Identify potential hazards if current drilling practices are continued over the next 24 hours.
  • Gather and summarize all other relevant pore pressure indicators (back ground vs. connection
gas, ROP, caving, etc.). This data should be used to support the pore pressure models.
  • Compute gas ratios to identify if related to underbalance environment or wellbore breathing.
  • In the event of influx or losses, gather and summarize all indicators. Give special attention to possible prior indicators or decisions made that may have caused the event.
  • Determine from all sources available where the influx or losses are occurring, and the
  • mechanism of losses.
  • Use this data and information to calibrate the pore pressure and fracture gradient
  • models.
