Outside Sales Representative – Roofing Division (Raleigh, NC)

Location : Raleigh, North Carolina (travel across the Triangle area)

Position Overview
51 State Construction’s roofing division is seeking an energetic outside sales professional to sell residential and commercial roof replacement and repair services. This role combines canvassing, sales and customer advocacy—guiding clients from the first inspection through project close‐out and serving as the link between the customer and our project management team.

Responsibilities

• Lead Generation & Prospecting – Generate new opportunities through networking, events, door‐to‐door canvassing. Build relationships with homeowners and property managers in storm‐affected areas or simply aged roofs, while maintaining accurate canvassing records.

• Roof Inspections & Assessments – Conduct roof inspections, photograph damage and compile detailed digital reports for repair or replacement estimates.

• Customer Education & Proposals – Explain roofing options, warranties and the insurance claim process to customers. Prepare and present proposals using sales software, forecast sales and refine strategies.

• Sales Negotiation & Closing – Negotiate and secure signed agreements while meeting or exceeding sales targets.

• Project Coordination & Customer Advocacy – Act as the primary contact from contract signing through final inspection. Maintain clear communication with customers throughout the project. Assist with insurance adjuster meetings and advocate for customers during claims.

• Relationship Building – Develop relationships with insurance agents, property managers and industry partners to self‐generate business. Maintain and expand a client database and meet personal and team sales goals.

• Reporting & Administration – Update CRM with sales activities, provide feedback to management and complete project checklists and close‐out documentation. Attend meetings and training to stay current on products and industry trends.

• Compliance & Safety – Represent the company professionally at all times. Follow OSHA safety protocols during inspections and quality control checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; post‐secondary education in business or construction is a plus.

• Proven sales experience with a record of achieving quotas; roofing or construction background preferred.

• Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills; ability to build long‐term relationships.

• Comfortable with door‐to‐door canvassing.

• Able to climb ladders and safely access roofs for inspections.

• Competent with computers; CRM experience is an asset.

• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle; willing to travel across the Raleigh area and work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends.

• Self‐motivated, goal‐oriented and able to work independently while collaborating with a team.

• Ability to provide references, a list of completed projects and a summary of past job duties.

Compensation & Benefits

This role offers a commission‐based pay structure with a base allowance to cover fuel, tolls and parking expenses. Commissions are paid on each project sold and successfully completed, providing substantial earning potential tied to performance. 51 State Construction provides training, marketing support and opportunities for advancement within our growing roofing division.
