Safety Specialist II - Demolition

As a Safety Specialist II - Demolition, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our teams across multiple jobsites. This position is responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies, conducting site audits, delivering training, and collaborating with both field and management personnel. The role requires a high level of independence, expertise in hazard identification, and the ability to travel to various locations, including out-of-state projects. Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce corporate and regulatory safety policies, including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and local/state/federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of demolition and heavy construction jobsites.
- Identify environmental and safety hazards, recommend corrective and protective measures, and communicate findings to all levels of personnel.
- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and pre-task plans.
- Organize and deliver safety training sessions on a variety of topics to personnel at all levels.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, perform root cause analysis, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
- Analyze incident trends and recommend improvements to prevent future occurrences.
- Mentor and assist in the training and supervision of other safety personnel as needed.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide guidance during incidents.
- Collaborate with field and management teams to ensure consistent application of safety protocols.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 5 years of directly related safety experience in demolition or heavy construction.
- Relevant degrees from accredited institutions may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Possession of or progress toward a professional safety designation (such as ASP, CSP, CHST).
- Completion of safety-related train-the-trainer courses (e.g., confined space, fall protection, silica).
- OSHA 500/510 certification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards.
- Ability to conduct safety inspections, develop and implement safety programs, and communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
- Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and report preparation.
- Ability to travel frequently and stay at jobsites for extended periods.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations at any time.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
