Authorization Specialist

Authorization Specialist – Full-Time Position – Raleigh Location

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Authorization Specialist to support our Physical Therapy team by ensuring patient visits are properly authorized and documented prior to appointments. In this role, you will work closely with patients, therapists, and insurance providers to coordinate authorizations, resolve coverage issues, and help ensure a smooth experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtain and maintain insurance authorizations for physical therapy services prior to patient appointments
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
• Track and manage authorization status, including denied or pending authorizations
• Communicate authorization updates or issues to patients, therapists, and front desk staff
• Maintain logs of denied authorizations and assist with retro authorizations when necessary
• Work with Workers’ Compensation cases and maintain knowledge of related processes
• Document authorization information accurately in internal systems
• Collaborate with the Physical Therapy billing team and other authorization specialists to maintain workflow
• Assist with training new team members on authorization procedures
• Provide backup support for front desk/Patient Service Representative duties as needed

Requirements:

• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with patient information
• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working with computers and electronic systems for extended periods
• Prior insurance authorization experience preferred but not required
