PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Greenville, North Carolina (27834) – North Carolina nursing jobs
• Unit: Neurosciences Intermediate Unit (Gen)
• Employment Type: PRN (Per Diem) – flexible healthcare job
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Start Date: August 11, 2025
• End Date: August 12, 2025
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1460 - $1500
• Holiday/Weekend Requirements: 3 out of 4 holidays and 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
• Patient Ratio: 1:4 or 1:5 depending on acuity

PCU Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or neuroscience nursing experience required
• Must pass EKG and pharmacology exams during compliance process
• Proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system preferred
• Must reside within an 80-mile radius of Greenville, NC
• All requested time off must be submitted prior to assignment confirmation

PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized nursing care to patients with acute stroke, post-neurosurgical needs, seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, and other complex neurological conditions
• Perform NIHSS assessments, assist with lumbar punctures, manage arterial and central lines, provide tracheotomy care, manage lumbar drains, initiate IV starts, and perform peripheral and arterial blood draws
• Administer and monitor intravenous drips, including cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, responding promptly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the EPIC charting system
