Primary Place of Performance: Hybrid – Springfield, VA (2 days per week in the office)
Years of Experience: Entry-Level
Mandatory Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance due to federal contract requirements.
JFL Consulting, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional with a finance-related degree and hands-on experience in government contracting accounting. The Junior Staff Accountant will support day-to-day financial operations and reporting processes, with exposure to full-cycle accounting, audit preparation, and coordination with an outsourced accounting firm.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a high-impact, mission-driven organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Familiarity or hands-on experience with Unanet and/or Deltek
- Understanding of GAAP and accounting lifecycle principles
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the government contracting environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
Duties to Include but not Limited to:
- Open and maintain account lines
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations
- Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions
- Reconcile corporate credit card expenses
- Support month-end close and internal reporting cycles
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and liaise with external auditors
- Participate in financial meetings and interface with the outsourced accounting firm
- Help manage the full lifecycle of financial reporting
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with government contracting regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Experience:
- Internship or entry-level experience in government contracting accounting
- Familiarity with DCAA or audit requirements in GovCon
- Exposure to indirect cost rates and compliance-driven financial tracking
- Unanet or similar software experience
