Location and Work

This position can be remote or hybrid, as per policy, if located within 45 miles of either our Independence, Ohio, or Emerald Isle, North Carolina, locations, preference for those available for work during Eastern Time zone hours.

About the Position and the Team

TransImpact is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead the development and evolution of a core segment of the company’s technology architecture. This includes driving platform-wide AI capabilities, defining integration and connector strategies, and overseeing the development of critical platform services such as authentication, performance, and security.

In this role, the Director will be responsible for leading strategic change management initiatives across significant areas of the organization while fostering the growth and development of their engineering teams. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to implement strategies that enhance delivery velocity, predictability, resilience, and the overall quality of software solutions.

This leader will work in close partnership with a Product Manager, forming a key relationship to mentor and develop both individual contributors and engineering managers. Together, they will cultivate high-performing teams and deliver impactful results for the organization. The Director will also serve as a visible champion for engineering excellence, clearly defining and advocating for what success looks like across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit and cultivate a continuous improvement mindset in areas of people, product, and process
  • Hire, mentor, and coach a team responsible for building a robust, highly available application hosted primarily in Azure.
  • Work with the Product Owner to confirm, scope, and deliver application functionality in releases.
  • Lead the Development of Sales & Operations Planning, Supply Chain Planning, or Financial Planning-based applications.
  • Manage project(s) across your team and work with them to resolve design and/or implementation issues
  • Engage in project planning initiatives, working with your team to fulfill project estimation, design, systems, technical and functional architecture, and planning needs
  • Lead Development sprints, planning sessions, and facilitate team retrospectives.
  • Monitor and track status for projects your team is involved in and manage the team to effectively mitigate risks, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with exceptional quality

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Minimum 8 years of experience with software development
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in a software development leadership-related role
  • Demonstrated success leading numerous groups through indirect leadership
  • A collaborative personality and phenomenal communication skills when working with cross-functional teams and peer leaders
  • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple, high-performing teams through indirect leadership
  • A demonstrated ability to develop independent and collaborative strategies to own accountability of group performance
  • Trailblazer of technical prowess and implementation
