At Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC, Allserv Inc offers a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team in maintaining and enhancing the base’s outdoor spaces. The Grounds Maintenance Manager/Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring the safety, appearance, and functionality of the base’s grounds through effective leadership, operational planning, and hands-on involvement. This position is ideal for candidates who are passionate about landscape management, team leadership, and supporting the mission of military facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead, recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate groundskeeping staff, ensuring adherence to OSHA safety procedures and company standards.
• Oversee and participate in daily grounds maintenance activities, including mowing, trimming, weed control, and the care of trees, shrubs, and flowers using a range of equipment such as tractors, zero turn mowers, trimmers, edgers, chainsaws, and leaf machines.
• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules and landscape plans to ensure year-round upkeep of the base’s grounds.
• Manage budgets for supplies, monitor and maintain machinery, and coordinate equipment servicing and repairs as needed.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA environmental regulations and safety standards, and prepare and submit operational reports as required.
• Collaborate with team members and base personnel to address grounds maintenance needs and resolve issues promptly.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in grounds maintenance for large facilities, preferably military installations.
• 1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in grounds maintenance or a related field.
• Proficiency in horticultural practices, pesticide and herbicide application, and irrigation system management.
• Strong communication, organizational, and delegation skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Certification as a North Carolina pesticide applicator in Turf & Ornamental.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks as needed.
