Job Summary:
As a Studio Manager we want you to run the business like you own the business. In this role you are responsible for all day-to-day operations, team leadership and development, guest care, soft skill training, inventory management and the overall performance and profitability of the studio. Your work directly impacts the success of the enterprise by serving as a flagship location for the brand. Under your leadership, your Waxing the City Studio will be the demonstration of what good looks like and will be a regular part of the sales and training process that ultimately leads to the success of Waxing the City.
A successful Studio Manager will leverage their industry and business experience and inspirational leadership skills to hire and retain top talent, cultivate a positive, high performance, surprisingly personable culture, ensure a world class guest experience that drives retention and referral business and coach the team on a day to day basis in order to deliver year over year profitable growth.
The Waxing the City Studio Manager reports to the owner. This position will have multiple direct reports including waxing specialists (Cerologists) and Studio Coordinators. The Studio Manager position requires accessibility including first point of contact during and occasionally before or after studio hours as well as coverage for all studio coordinator shifts.
Key Position Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
Lead the recruiting, hiring and onboard process for all studio positions. This will include participation in recruiting events at beauty schools. This work is largely in partnership with your PTSM.
Engage, challenge, develop and ultimately retain your team by helping them realize their full potential.
Build and manage schedules and time requests for your team to serve both team member engagement and the needs of the business.
Provide regular coaching, training and development for all team members. This will include but is not limited to daily coaching in the moment, role play scenarios, weekly 1:1 meetings and annual performance reviews.
Implement and maintain a frequent and effective communication structure to include daily huddles, monthly team meetings and other communication as necessary. Client Care.
Lead by example, coach and manage the client experience in order to deliver against our brand promise of providing a superior wax service and surprisingly personable experience.
Lead by example in performing all studio coordinator job duties. The Studio Manager should plan to fulfill 15-20 hours / week at the front desk, serving as the studio coordinator.
Follow up on any client issues within 24 hours and coach team to ensure improvement
Ensure team members have completed required and supplemental training in order to deliver waxing services to brand standard.
Operations:
Ensure studio is clean, in good repair and merchandised to brand standard.
Maintain adequate and accurate retail and supply inventory for site operations.
Monitor safety for all individuals (internal customers, external customers, vendors, visitors, volunteers/interns) within our facility or on our physical grounds. Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety/training education sessions.
Recognize and communicate opportunities for process improvement. Assist in planning and implementation of ongoing process improvements.
Achieve service standards and business results by being accountable for efficient and effective day-to-day operations. Assist with development of policies and procedures to accomplish these standards.
Review studio results daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly providing insight and opportunities for ongoing business improvement.
Take lead on the planning and implementation of marketing and community engagement events, ongoing management of studio engagement, and posts to studio social media platforms.

Required Job Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a leadership position responsible for direct management of the performance of others.

Business operations experience including inventory, budget management, scheduling, etc.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take risks and make thoughtful business decisions.
Demonstrated ability to use resources to answer questions and solve challenges.
Comfortable dealing with uncertainty; demonstrated ability to create structure and prioritize work effectively.
Ability to learn quickly and easily adapt to a dynamic work environment
Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills (phone, email, in person and in front of groups)
Experience with Outlook, Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
Strong Marketing, Social Media and Sales background.Preferred Job Qualifications:
3+ years management and marketing experience in a retail or service business
Experience in the salon / spa / waxing industry
Physical Demands: The physical requirements for this position are hearing, speaking, seeing, bending, reaching, lifting up to 30 pounds, and being able to stand for 4 to 8 hours, or the ability to accomplish the physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations.
