We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Sterile Processing to lead our sterile processing department in delivering exceptional patient care and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the VP of Perioperative Services, this critical leadership role offers the opportunity to shape departmental operations, drive quality improvement initiatives, and lead a dedicated team of sterile processing professionals in a state-of-the-art healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all sterile processing department operations, ensuring compliance with hospital mission, goals, and objectives
• Lead integration efforts with perioperative services, surgical services, and other departments to optimize workflow efficiency and coordination
• Recruit, develop, and retain qualified sterile processing technicians and staff to maintain optimal departmental performance
• Implement and maintain comprehensive quality control programs and infection prevention protocols
• Ensure all instrumentation decontamination, sterilization, and distribution processes meet regulatory standards
• Develop and execute continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and service delivery
• Design and deliver orientation programs and ongoing education for all sterile processing personnel
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and capital equipment recommendations
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure proper handling of operating room instrumentation and equipment
• Maintain compliance with AAMI, AORN, and Joint Commission standards
• Serve as hospital representative at community events and professional healthcare forums

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Nursing, or completion of a Two-Year Surgical Technology program
• Certification: Current CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) through IAHCSMM required
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Central Sterile Processing or Sterile Processing Department management
• Clinical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of operating room instrumentation, surgical equipment, and sterilization processes
• Regulatory Expertise: Working knowledge of aseptic technique, infection control protocols, and healthcare compliance standards
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead teams, manage operations, and drive departmental performance
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to collaborate across departments
• Technical Proficiency: Computer literacy and experience with sterile processing tracking systems
• Performance Under Pressure: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and make critical decisions in high-pressure healthcare environments
