We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful procurement of relationships with key players within the construction industry to execute projects. Marand Builders is focused on providing the Best Possible Construction Experience and we are looking for someone to lead that process from the inception of the project lifecycle.

About Us
In 1999, armed with an Electrical Engineering degree, 14 years of business experience with Hoechst
Celanse and a restless entrepreneurial spirit, Francisco Alvarado decided to embark on a new venture
and Marand Builders, Inc was established. Since the conception of Marand, our goal has been to
understand the individual needs of our customers and provide them with a customized solution. We
have built our reputation on reliability, attentiveness, and quality of execution. We succeed when we
have provided our clients with the best construction experience. We started in Charlotte, NC, but rapidly expanded to cover the Carolinas, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast US regions. We have 7 regional offices in
Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Our team of highly talented professionals has allowed us
to become a preferred vendor with many of our clients, exceeding 95% repeat business. Marand
specializes in serving the healthcare, financial services, commercial / administrative and light-industrial
industries.

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree or four to ten years or related experience
  • At least four years of experience in the commercial construction industry under the AEC umbrella
  • Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to individuals and groups at all levels of an organization
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple pursuits and priorities
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the applicable area of engineering/technical specialization.
Expectations
  • Travel to regions within Marand’s footprint as required for new & existing client visits – presentations, lunches, dinners, etc.
  • Currently, we do not have territories as a Business Development Department.
  • It is expected that Business Development personnel in each region take point on developing new clients within their direct region.
  • It is also expected that Business Development personnel organize meetings and travel to regions outside of their direct region to develop business in regions which do not have a dedicated BD employee.
  • The Business Development Department collaborates with each other and leverages any contacts each person may have outside of the state they live or operate in daily.
  • Additionally, a BD Manager may be assigned to a target sector (Financial, Healthcare, or Energy) based on experience or depth of contact. This would be the Business Developer’s focus, but the responsibility to reach out to other sectors is still expected.
  • Collaborates with marketing personnel and marketing department. Main management activities of the marketing department include:
  • Manages RFP generation, submissions, and overall content of written proposals.
  • Manage the creation of client presentations built by Marketing department.
  • Works regularly with leadership throughout the company with new business initiatives, RFP requirements and any support the region may require from BD & Marketing.
  • Manages social media content, written advertisements, award submissions, regional marketing exposure events and branding.
  • Performs management responsibilities of personnel including performance evaluations, day-to-day operations, and delegation.
  • All marketing content is to be managed and approved by Business Development Manager prior to submission/posting.
Responsibilities
  • Marand Builders is focused on growing their market share in the financial, healthcare, and energy sectors, with strong focus in healthcare & energy. The business development manager is expected to solicit new clients in these sectors as well as other diversified industries.
  • Develops customer relations including but not limited to sales leads, research, cold calling, qualifying leads, developing leads, and customer service.
  • Maintains and develops client relations for new and larger established existing customers, assuring all existing customer are contacted regularly to ensure customer satisfaction and develop need-based marketing relations.
  • Seeks/creates opportunities to expand business with current clients; identifies further business needs and develops and presents solutions.
  • Develops sales documentation including but not limited to spreadsheets, correspondence, sales proposals, presentations, and internal paperwork for new customer proposals and presentations.
  • Develops and implements a sales action plan with objectives and strategies to increase revenue and aggressively acquire new accounts.
  • Develops and implements a plan for closing business and maintaining long-term customer relationships.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains procedures that enhance the efficiency of the business development team.
  • Attends conventions, conferences, and trade shows as needed; prepares post-event reports and analysis.
  • Complete new vendor applications as required for potential new customers.
  • Create BD Budget & new revenue goals annually
  • Manage marketing personnel and departments (expectations outlined)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Physical Demands:
  • The individual typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing.
  • Frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle, or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Please note that climbing stairs is a physical requirement. Some offices contain an elevator, but one must be able to use stairs for fire drills and emergencies


Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Individuals may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
