We are seeking an Accounting Assistant/Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This position will be responsible for assisting with the daily processing of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable transactions.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
· High School diploma or GED equivalent required
· A two or four-year college degree is preferred in Accounting, Business, or another related field.
· Minimum of one year of successful business experience in a facility or home care setting.
· Minimum of one year of successful experience with Medicaid billing
· Strong understanding of Payroll processing preferred
Job Responsibilities
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper to assist with the day-to-day operations of the accounting department
· The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping practices and focus on good planning, time management, and organizational skills.
· Proven experience with working with QuickBooks Online Payroll and accounts payable.
· Ability to work well with others and be a part of an interdisciplinary team.
· Must be familiar with various computer software packages, e.g., QuickBooks Online, MS Office, EMR, etc.
· Handle all billing-related situations and supervise all documentation related to billing
· Ensure all billing is completed on time
· Develop a working relationship with clients, families, and outside vendors
· Prepare payroll according to company schedules, handle employee deductions, and pay payroll taxes
· Maintain accurate financial records and ensure confidentiality
· Ensure the billing process meets standards set by the company’s policies
· Perform billing process in an organized manner and report any billing problems to the CFO and/or President/Executive Director
· Ensure client/facility billing files are organized and meet the criteria of the Medicaid licensor and certification
· Ensure appropriate billing procedures are completed
· Oversee a variety of general administrative and financial support functions
