Compensation

• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1700–$1750 per week

Neuro ICU RN Job Details

• Location: Charlotte, NC 28204 (North Carolina nursing jobs)
• Unit: Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (Locum Tenens)
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• End Date: November 24, 2025
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 2:1 (may flex up to 3:1 during high census)
• Average Daily Census: 11-12 patients
• Orientation: 24 hours (2 days/nights)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state (required by start date)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU or neuro critical care nursing experience
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficient in ventilator management, IV starts, neuro ICU protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, EVDs, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery care, ventilated patient care, isolation precautions/PPE, and lumbar drains
• Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting system
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Ability to float to other hospital units as needed
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Neuro ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to Neuro ICU patients with strokes (ischemic, hemorrhagic), craniotomies, carotid stents, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, and other neurological conditions
• Monitor and manage patients with external ventricular drains (EVDs), lumbar drains, ICP monitoring devices (Camino, LICOX), and Arctic Sun
• Administer blood products, emergency medications, and continuous IV sedation
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and radiology
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EHR and follow SBAR communication protocols
• Adhere to infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing clinical education
• Float to other critical care or medical-surgical units as required
