Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Details

• Location: Wilson, NC 27893 (Eastern North Carolina nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: August 30, 2025
• End Date: November 29, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other or every third weekend (12-hour shifts)
• Setting: 22-bed Medical Surgical Telemetry unit
• Patient Ratio: 5:1 or 6:1
• Electronic Health Record: Meditech EMR
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800 - $1840 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and strong clinical assessment skills
• Ability to float to other units as needed
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Team-oriented, adaptable, and flexible healthcare professional
• Compliance with hospital dress code (no artificial nails)

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Interpret EKGs and continuously monitor cardiac rhythms
• Oversee patient admissions, discharges, and transitions of care
• Administer medications, including basic cardiac drips and IV therapies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Operate clinical equipment such as Welch Allyn V/S machines, Hoyer Lifts, Abbott Glucometers, and Baxter IV pumps
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, chest pain, acute renal failure (ARF), COPD, uncontrolled diabetes, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in Meditech EMR
• Participate in bi-weekly orientation sessions and ongoing professional development
