Job Summary: The Associate Medical Director is responsible for supporting the delivery of high‑quality participant care, ensuring strong clinical outcomes, and assisting in the implementation and oversight of the quality assessment and improvement program. The Associate Medical Director provides day‑to‑day clinical leadership for Primary Care Providers (PCPs) and direct oversight of assigned Nurse Practitioners (NPs). This role includes utilization of Evidence Based Leadership strategies which include clinic and team interaction observation, data review, monthly rounding, clinical documentation review, assessment review, and annual evaluations for NPs. The Associate Medical Director is responsible for monitoring NP clinical performance, including polypharmacy, hospital utilization, infections, and falls with fractures. The Associate Medical Director also manages the PCP call schedule and maintains a high‑risk participant panel for direct clinical care. Position reports directly to the STLC Medical Director.
SpecificationsEducation : Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine.
Experience : Residency in Internal Medicine or Family Practice required; additional training in Geriatrics preferred. Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience with at least 1 year working with frail or elderly populations. Prior supervisory or administrative experience preferred.
Number and Type of Employees Supervised (optional) : Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Primary Care Providers (PCPs) as assigned.
Licensure, Registry or Certification Required : Current license to practice medicine in North Carolina, valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.
Special Training : Meet a standardized set of competencies for the specific position description established by Senior TLC, Inc. and approved by CMS before working independently. Ability to supervise and mentor NPs and PCPs. Demonstrated clinical leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Must demonstrate compassion, responsiveness, and professionalism consistent with PACE policies and procedures.
Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up to date before engaging in direct participant contact.
Physical Demands : Must be able to move freely, possess manual dexterity and visual acuity, and communicate effectively. Frequent travel within the service area and occasional travel beyond the service area required. Home visits to participants required.
Key Working Relationships : Primary contacts include the Senior TLC Medical Director, Primary Care Providers, Nurse Practitioners, and members of the Senior TLC Leadership Team.
External Contacts : Interaction with community medical providers, specialists, hospitals, and regulatory agencies as needed.

· Administers the Associate Medical Director role in alignment with Senior TLC’s mission, vision, and values. Supports the Executive Leadership Team and contributes to a unified organizational presence.
· Provides day‑to‑day clinical oversight and support to assigned PCPs and NPs, including monthly rounding, note review, assessment review, and annual performance evaluations.
· Ensures compliance with PACE provider regulations as they relate to clinical practice and documentation.
· Monitors NP clinical performance, including polypharmacy, hospital utilization, infections, and falls with fractures, and provides coaching or corrective action as needed.
· Oversees clinical quality for assigned teams and collaborates with the Medical Director on quality improvement initiatives.
· Manages the PCP call schedule for assigned providers.
· Maintains a high‑risk participant list and provides direct clinical care to these participants as needed.
· Provides Evidence Based Leadership strategies to include internal consultation to PCPs and NPs through case review, clinical guidance, and analysis of aggregate data.
· Collaborates with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary team to implement clinical practice guidelines and evidence‑based care standards.
· Participates in the development and review of clinical policies and procedures.
· Supports Quality Assurance activities, including monitoring of clinical outcomes, service utilization, and pharmacy utilization.
· Interfaces with contracted medical providers and facilities when quality concerns arise.
· Participates in committees and work groups that support the mission and promote cost‑effective, high‑quality clinical care.
· Develops and Provides presentations, education, and clinical updates monthly, quarterly and annually as required.
· Supports Senior TLC’s mission to encourage and support the quality of life of seniors wishing to continue living in the community; its vision to be the preferred provider of individualized care for seniors in the community; and its values of respect, integrity, accountability, compatible goals, and compassionate care.
· Other duties as assigned.
