education: No Degree Required Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and ISO/SOP specifications to plan welding sequences.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), or Flux-core (FCAW) .
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions according to specific job requirements.
- Execute tack-welding to ensure proper alignment of parts before final weld application.
- Set up and calibrate welding machines, including adjusting voltage, amperage, and gas flow rates for different material thicknesses.
- Use grinders, sanders, or wire brushes to prepare surfaces for welding and to clean completed welds (removing slag, spatter, or excess metal).
- Utilize precision measuring instruments ( calipers, micrometers, and tape measures ) to verify that parts meet dimensional tolerances.
- Inspect completed welds for common defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, or warping to ensure 100% product integrity.
- Operate industrial shop equipment including bandsaws, drill presses, ironworkers, and torch/plasma cutters.
