Boiler Systems Welder-Pipefitter Technician
About the Role
Picture a workday that starts in the shop reviewing prints and staging materials, then shifts to a customer site where you align a packaged boiler, lay out supports, and burn in clean, code‑worthy welds. This field-based position splits time between the shop and on-site service, and calls for a safety-first technician with deep hands-on skill in boiler installations, welding, pipefitting, refractory work, and industrial mechanical repairs.
What You’ll Tackle
- Set & align boiler equipment: Place, level, and secure packaged boilers, deaerators, economizers, and other pressure-retaining units to manufacturer guidance and ASME/NBIC requirements.
- Weld & fabricate: Perform SMAW, MIG, and TIG on piping systems and pressure vessels; build skids, brackets, supports, and complete pipe assemblies.
- Re-tube & repair: Remove and replace boiler tubes, roll and weld new tubes, and execute hydrostatic testing.
- Refractory restoration: Inspect, demo, install, patch, cast, and cure refractory linings for safe, efficient operation.
- Pipefitting: Assemble and install pipe runs, valves, fittings, and supports from blueprints and technical drawings.
- Code work: Assist with or perform ASME/NB repairs and alterations in accordance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Safety leadership: Participate in OSHA-mandated training and follow both internal and client safety protocols at all times.
- Team contribution: Communicate clearly, collaborate across functions, and maintain a professional, positive approach.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of welding/fitting and industrial mechanical experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in welding and pipefitting; able to pass weld tests (certifications preferred).
- Working knowledge of boiler components: burners, controls, valves, pumps, and expansion tanks.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and safety documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders and scaffolding, and operate in confined or non‑climate‑controlled spaces.
- Willingness to travel on occasion, including overnights.
Compliance Notice
OSHA 10 or 30 certification and successful completion of a 10-panel drug screen.
