Job Title: Plant Sciences - Research Scientist 1

Location: Research Triangle Park, NC 27409

Duration: 6 Months

Job Description:

Duties:

• Perform plant and seed production based activities with commercial crops in a laboratory focused on insect efficacy testing.

• Common tasks to be performed Ensure adherence to insect compliance requirements

• Plant care including hand watering, fertilizing, and plant maintenance Planting, Sampling, transplanting, pollinating, and discarding plants

• Plant growth performance observations and data collections

• Experience in data manipulation and analysis (VBA, Excel, etc )

Skills:

• Ability to perform all physical duties required in greenhouse operations under well controlled environment conditions.

• Ability to work weekends and occasionally holidays.

• Greenhouse experience preferred.

• Experience with any type of insect bioassays or data management (e.g. VBA) is a bonus.

• Demonstrated ability and motivation to work in unsupervised situations

• Pay attention to plant care and experimental details

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Proven ability to work in a team

• Commitment and adherence to excellent stewardship practices

• Ability to use MS office software and other databases efficiently

Education:

• BS degree or equivalent in agronomy, horticulture or plant science related field or an associate degree with 2 years of experience in plant biology
