Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Equipment Service Technician to join our team at Rasmussen Rents. This role is responsible for cleaning, servicing, and performing minor repairs on a variety of rental equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and takes pride in maintaining equipment and the shop environment to high standards. This position also requires regular customer interaction and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance & Cleaning
Clean and inspect returned equipment to ensure it's ready for the next rental.
Perform routine service tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-offs, and battery checks.
Identify and report mechanical issues or damage.
Minor Repairs
Conduct basic mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical repairs under the direction of senior technicians or the shop manager.
Assist with preventative maintenance schedules for equipment fleet.
Customer Interaction
Greet customers and assist with equipment check-ins and check-outs.
Provide basic operational instructions and safety tips for equipment when needed.
Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with customers.
Shop & Yard Maintenance
Keep shop and yard areas clean, safe, and organized.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Follow company policies and safety procedures at all times.
Operational Support
Assist with loading/unloading equipment onto trailers or delivery trucks.
Support inventory checks and supply restocking.
Complete equipment service logs and other basic documentation.
Qualifications:
- Spanish speaking preferred, but not required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of tools and machinery.
Prior experience with small engines, construction equipment, or auto/truck maintenance is preferred.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly and work in outdoor conditions.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Frequent exposure to outdoor weather, dust, grease, and mechanical noise.
Requires standing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
