TRiO Upward bound Career Exploration Coordinator (Health Focus)

Forsyth Technical Community College is seeking a part-time Health Careers Exploration Coordinator to support the TRIO Upward Bound Program. This grant-funded position coordinates career exploration and postsecondary exposure opportunities for high school students interested in health-related professions. The role focuses on planning educational activities such as college visits, guest speakers, and informational workshops that introduce students to healthcare careers and postsecondary pathways.
This position works collaboratively with TRIO staff, partner institutions, and community organizations to support the program’s mission of preparing first-generation and income-eligible students for college success. All services provided are informational and enrichment-based and support college readiness and career exploration consistent with federal TRIO Upward Bound regulations.


  • Part-time, hourly position
  • Evening or weekend hours may be required for student programming
  • Position contingent upon continued federal grant funding
Minimum Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelors degree. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC .
  • Experience working with high school or college students
  • Experience supporting first-generation and/or low-income students
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends when student activities are scheduled
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications Preferred:
  • Experience with TRIO or college access programs
  • Experience coordinating educational workshops, events, or campus visits
Familiarity with college admissions and postsecondary pathway planning, and career exploration Essential Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities : including the following and other duties as needed.

Health Careers Exploration Support
  • Provide structured career exploration support for students interested in health professions including medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, public health, and allied health fields.
  • Plan and coordinate medical school and health sciences campus visits and informational tours.
  • Assist students in understanding academic preparation and college pathways related to health careers.
  • Organize guest speakers, panels, and informational workshops featuring healthcare professionals and university representatives.
  • Share information about pre-college enrichment opportunities and scholarships related to health professions.

Collaboration & Partnerships
  • Collaborate with TRiO Upward Bound staff to align activities with program goals and schedules.
  • Assist in developing partnerships with universities, healthcare organizations, and community partners.
  • Communicate with students and families regarding program activities and expectations.

Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services and student participation in the TRiO data system.
  • Ensure all activities comply with federal TRiO regulations and Forsyth Tech policies.
  • Assist with data collection to support program evaluation and reporting.

Administrative Support
  • Assist with logistics related to tours and enrichment activities including scheduling, transportation coordination, and materials preparation.
  • Participate in staff meetings and program planning as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
