Hours: 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week

The Dental Accounting Technician is responsible for managing the billing and collections process for all dental financial accounts, using bookkeeping and accounting principles and procedures, while ensuring confidentiality and security of patient billing information.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Verify insurance (Private and Medicaid) and enter data
- Submit insurance claims
- Post payments
- Generate billing statements for patients
- Prepare daily deposit reports for the finance department
- Manage outstanding accounts receivable
- Compile monthly reports in Excel for the finance department
- Prepare refunds for patients and third-party payors as needed
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Coursework and/or experience in accounting, bookkeeping or medical/dental coding. Two years of experience in dental and/or medical finance and billing. Experience with NC Medicaid/NC Tracks, Excel, dental software preferred. Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- General knowledge of medical coding and billing terminology, methods, procedures, and equipment
- Knowledge of CDT codes, verifying and submitting insurance
- Knowledge of accounting principles and related data processing equipment
- Considerable knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance payor regulations, processes, and procedures
- General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
- Must be able to follow detailed work procedures
- Possess ability to post accounts and perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with associates and the general public
