Position Summary
Our State is seeking a talented and versatile Videographer to join our growing digital team. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong technical skills who can handle every stage of production — from concept to final cut. The videographer will film and edit videos and podcasts that reflect the quality, warmth, and authenticity of the Our State brand. This role requires someone who can create engaging content, tell strong stories, collaborate across teams, and bring fresh, innovative ideas to every assignment. This position reports to the Digital Director and will work closely with other staff videographers and the Digital Content Editor.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the digital team to create exceptional content across multiple channels to enhance stories told in the magazine.
• Generate ideas and strategize content across a wide variety of digital and print projects for both editorial and sales purposes.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high creative standards.
• Handle shifting priorities and fast-paced production schedules with flexibility and professionalism.
• Workshop projects amongst the team and have a willingness to give and receive constructive feedback.
• Write interview questions, then conduct and record interviews with subjects.
• Maintain organized file systems and manage media assets efficiently.
• Ensure all content aligns with the Our State brand voice and visual identity.
• Travel up to 30% of the time around North Carolina to complete projects.
• Comfortably coordinate with clients, freelance videographers, writers, and video hosts, as needed.
• Complete other tasks related to digital content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Film, Communications, Journalism, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in video production, editing, and/or multimedia storytelling.
• Proficiency with cameras, lighting, and audio recording equipment.
• Strong editing skills using DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro, or similar professional editing software.
• Passionate storyteller with skill and vision to advance the creative process.
• Proven creativity, collaborative spirit, and positive attitude with solid writing skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Precise attention to detail and the ability to change directions quickly, while retaining the highest caliber of work.
• Experience with motion graphics a plus.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Familiarity with the Our State brand and the state of North Carolina.
• Ability to present a strong portfolio illustrating best work completed to date.
