Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a dedicated Paraprofessional/Aide on a contract basis. Just a short drive from Asheville, two full-time opportunities are available for the 26-27 school year, supporting elementary students in a welcoming educational setting.

Position 1 focuses on providing 1:1 assistance to an elementary-aged student who requires support with mobility throughout the school day. This vital role includes helping with transfers and diapering, ensuring the child’s safety and comfort while fostering independence as much as possible.

Position 2 offers the chance to guide and mentor a blind elementary student, delivering dedicated assistance for navigation, daily routines, and classroom activities. Building a supportive, encouraging environment will allow this student to thrive both academically and socially.

To excel in either role, candidates should possess:

• Previous experience working with children or as a paraprofessional/aide, especially in school settings
• Compassion, patience, and a commitment to supporting diverse learners
• Ability to assist with personal care and mobility needs (Position 1)
• Willingness to learn and implement strategies for supporting visually impaired students (Position 2)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers and other staff
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications a plus

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing individualized attention and support to facilitate student learning and participation
• Maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
• Assisting with personal care, mobility, classroom tasks, and behavioral support
• Documenting student progress and collaborating with educational teams and families
