Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

The purpose of this position is:

Perform necessary facilities preventive maintenance, repairs, remodeling, grounds, construction, forklifts, scissors lifts, fire suppression system, overhead doors, automatic gates, cleaning and other building & grounds duties as determined.

This position includes significant duties such as:

  • Support project planning scheduling system in the day to day activities as instructed by facilities coordinator or management regarding construction, renovations, building repairs, structural, roofing repairs, soil erosion, landscaping, lawn and grounds care, snow removal, security gates/locks/access list, safety rails, fire suppression, lighting retrofits, plumbing, electrical, automatic doors and gates, cleaning, environmental permit / compliance testing, safety inspections, facilities walkthroughs, and other projects as determined.
  • Interface with internal customers, contractors, outside service providers, and management as required with regard to all work orders for construction and building related projects.
  • Communicate timely status reports for work orders and project to internal customers and the facilities coordinator, follow up as appropriate.
  • Support efforts to comply with all Environmental and Safety directives.
  • Ensure contractors are trained in orientation.
  • Report any failings to management of outside contractors regarding Environmental compliance, permit violations, Hazardous and Non Hazardous Waste, OSHA compliance, recycling efforts and adherence to Safety Policies.
  • Utilize blueprint files, permits, checklists, training documents and records as required.
  • Perform safety & environmental audits of facilities, building and grounds during weekly PM's and report findings to facilities supervisor.
  • Proactively and continuously document necessary corrective action work orders and give to facilities coordinator for entry into CMMS system.

  • Good working conditions.
  • Heavy lifting in rare instances typically assisted.
  • Majority of time light lifting is involved.
  • Some exposure to elements of dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, and noise, but none to the extent of being disagreeable

Education:

  • High School or General Education Diploma (GED).

The range for this position is ​$25.25 hourly rate - $29.63 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
