Summary:

The purpose of this position is to lead the tax-planning function, conduct complex tax research activities, and support tax compliance activities. General responsibilities include supporting external tax firm with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns/audits, researching tax compliance matters in new jurisdictions (state and local), and various other tax related projects. This individual will provide advice to the different departments and help educate employees on the various tax laws and regulations, which affect Strata’s day-to-day operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manages tax planning function, C Corp, partnerships

· Performs complex tax research related to tax audits and tax compliance activities

· Reviews monthly/quarterly sales and use tax and privilege tax returns, real and personal property tax

· Prepares/reviews miscellaneous filings and responds to various notices

· Prepares responses to state and federal tax notices

· Manages requests from external tax firm related to the preparation of state and federal income tax returns

· Assist external tax firm with information document request, (IDR), responses for federal and state Income, franchise and sales & use tax filings

· Planning tax equity structure transactions

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

· B.S. in Accounting or Finance

· 7-10 years of income tax compliance and tax planning

· Experience working in a large corporate tax department or public accounting firm

· Experience with tax compliance software and general ledger packages

Preferred:

· MS in Accounting or Taxation or J.D.

· Certified Public Accountant

· Experience with tax equity financing involving renewable energy tax credits, highly preferred

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

• Work is performed in Durham, NC headquarters. No work from home is permitted.
• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds
