PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Greensboro, NC 27401 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Medical Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (30 beds)
• Position Type: Locum tenens / Travel Registered Nurse contract
• Assignment Dates: October 7, 2025 – January 6, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts/week (19:00 – 07:00)
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Coverage: One holiday and one holiday eve per assignment
• Floating: May float to other Cone Health facilities as needed
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1820 - $1870

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro PCU or progressive care nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required for PCU nursing jobs)
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• Ability to pass EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
• Experience with CVA, External CPAP/BiPAP, TR band, Yale Swallowing screen
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• Capable of managing a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Education verification via third party
• No local candidates within 50 miles of Greensboro, NC

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to adult neurological patients in a progressive care setting
• Monitor and manage patients with stroke, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injury, movement disorders, and neuromuscular diseases
• Perform specialized procedures: central line care, tracheostomy management, cardiac drips (no titration), and non-invasive airway management
• Document and chart patient care using Epic EHR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response)
• Float to other units or Cone Health facilities as needed
• Participate in self-scheduling via Optilink (6-week periods)
• Complete required orientation and compliance modules
