Junior Estimator

Responsibilities:

· Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

· Produce accurate quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment.

· Prepare detailed cost estimates and complete bid packages.

· Use estimating software and spreadsheets to assemble estimates.

· Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to clarify details.

· Assist with cost comparisons, proposal adjustments, and value engineering opportunities.

· Help ensure smooth project execution by coordinating estimating data with project management and field personnel.

· Assist with preparation and development of cost estimates for commercial landscape construction projects.

· Review and interpret plans, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents.

· Perform material, equipment, and labor takeoffs for landscape elements (hardscape, softscape, irrigation, drainage, etc.).

· Input data and generate detailed proposals using spreadsheets and estimating software.

· Solicit and organize vendor and subcontractor pricing.

· Maintain bid calendars and tracking systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree preferred  in Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

· Strong computer literacy and comfort with technology.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel  (formulas, pivot tables, data organization).

· Experience with estimating software is a Plus…, plan review tools, and digital takeoff platforms (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst, Sage, LMN, or ability to learn).

· Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

· Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

· Preferred: internship or prior experience in construction or landscape estimating.
