Help Finance the Development of Multifamily Communities
Grubb Properties is seeking an analytical finance professional to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for someone with experience underwriting commercial loans, commercial real estate finance, capital markets, commercial banking, or debt placement who enjoys structuring complex transactions and partnering across the investment lifecycle.
Working alongside senior finance leadership, you'll help source and close financing for multifamily developments and acquisitions while supporting investor reporting, financial analysis, and strategic financing initiatives. If you enjoy building financial models, coordinating lenders, analyzing deals, and seeing projects move from underwriting to closing, we'd love to meet you.

This position is based in our Charlotte headquarters. New team members are expected to work in the office during their onboarding and introductory period to build relationships and gain a strong understanding of our business. Once established in the role, employees may be eligible to transition to a hybrid work schedule.

What You'll Do
  • Assist in sourcing, underwriting, and closing development, acquisition, refinancing, and corporate loans.
  • Coordinate loan closings, due diligence, lender requests, and transaction documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain loan abstracts while monitoring covenant compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with quarterly investor, lender, and company reporting.
  • Analyze property performance, debt schedules, cash flows, and valuations.
  • Partner with Finance, Capital Markets, Accounting, and executive leadership on financing initiatives and special projects.
  • Research financing opportunities, market trends, and capital market activity.
  • Utilize Yardi and Excel to prepare financial analyses and reporting.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, highly analytical, and enjoys solving complex financial problems.
Preferred backgrounds include:
  • Commercial real estate lending
  • Commercial banking
  • Credit underwriting
  • Capital markets
  • Real estate investment or acquisitions
  • Multifamily finance
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field required.
  • MBA, MSRE, MSRED, or other advanced education in commercial real estate or finance is a plus.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in commercial real estate finance, commercial lending, capital markets, investment analysis, or a related field. Candidates with additional experience or advanced education may be considered at the Senior Associate level.
  • Experience underwriting or analyzing commercial real estate loans strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively across teams.
