Our client is hiring an experienced Claims & Risk Management Manager to join their corporate team in Greensboro, NC.
This is an onsite role for someone with strong construction risk management experience, claims knowledge, contract review skills, and an active or renewable adjuster license. The right candidate will help manage claims, insurance risk, contract risk transfer, COI compliance, accident investigations, and jobsite risk across multiple regions.
This is not a general insurance desk role. This person needs to understand construction operations, jobsite exposure, claims handling, and how to work with Safety, HR, Legal, Operations, brokers, carriers, and leadership.
What You'll Do
As the Claims & Risk Management Manager, you will oversee claims and risk management activity across multiple locations and project sites.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage insurance claims and risk management processes across multiple regions
- Review, evaluate, document, and support resolution of claims
- Support claims investigation, reserving, and resolution strategies
- Help manage insurance risk-transfer programs, renewals, audits, budgeting, and forecasting
- Review contracts for insurance requirements, indemnification language, and risk transfer provisions
- Manage Certificates of Insurance, including issuance, review, and compliance tracking
- Work with subcontractors, vendors, and business partners on insurance compliance
- Partner with Safety, HR, Legal, Operations, brokers, carriers, and leadership
- Support accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
- Assist with jobsite risk evaluations and safety-related initiatives
- Provide guidance to leadership on claims trends, risk exposure, and mitigation strategies
- Develop and support training related to claims, risk transfer, and accident investigation best practices
- Maintain accurate insurance, claims, and risk management records
- Travel as needed for jobsite evaluations, investigations, and operational support
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has progressive risk management experience in the construction industry, with strong claims management, contract review, and insurance compliance experience.
Required qualifications:
- 7 to 10+ years of progressive Risk Management experience
- 3+ years of claims investigation, claims management, and claims resolution experience
- Construction industry experience
- Licensed Adjuster credential, active or renewable
- Strong understanding of insurance claims, risk transfer, and claims documentation
- Experience reviewing contracts, insurance provisions, indemnification language, and COI requirements
- Experience managing Certificates of Insurance and subcontractor/vendor compliance
- Ability to work onsite in Greensboro, NC
- Ability to travel approximately 20% for jobsite evaluations, investigations, and operational needs
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with sound judgment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments
Preferred qualifications:
- Demolition, heavy civil, industrial, environmental, or commercial construction experience
- Experience handling claims in-house before involving insurers
- Multi-state claims or regional risk management experience
- Experience working with Safety, HR, Legal, Operations, brokers, carriers, and executive leadership
- Experience training field teams or superintendents on claims, accident investigation, or risk procedures
