: Date Opened: Tuesday, June 03, 2025 12:00 AM Close Date: Friday, June 20, 2025 12:00 AM Department: Storm Water Services Department Salary: $54,944.73 - $68,680.91 Commensurate with Experience SUMMARY This position is based in the Storm Water Services' Strategic Planning and Operations Division on the Asset Management Team and will support the development and maintenance of a comprehensive asset management program through performing GIS analysis, data management, data entry, and supporting and performing field inspections of storm drainage infrastructures. Offering: $61,813.00 - $68,680.00 Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supporting and performing field inspections of culverts, pipes, structures, and other drainage features to document condition and identify damage and/or deterioration.
  • Take measurements, photographs, and record various attributes in a digital report format.
  • Scheduling, attending, and reviewing video inspections of drainage features and documenting observations.
  • Managing confined space entry documentation.
  • Certifying inspection forms.
  • Identifying and prioritizing drainage features for inspection.
  • Entering work orders, accurately summarizing inspection findings, supporting field and office investigation efforts, and supporting investigators and engineers with any follow up actions requested related to the inspection completed.
  • Reporting immediate or emergency needs and coordinating with appropriate agencies.
  • Creating, editing, maintaining, querying, data analysis / analytics, updating and editing basic coding, and other tasks in ArcGIS Pro.
  • Collecting field data, consistency checks, and data management.
  • Researching and compiling information on completed projects, investigations and inspections.
  • Developing dashboards and other reporting tools, in addition to coordinating data submissions and maintaining data quality.
  • Supporting other teams within the division with tasks such as inventory, pipe video inspections, investigations, data entry, data research, record keeping, coordination, and other needed support activities.

  • Must be able to print legibly, read and interpret design plans, visualize details, draw technical sketches and operate electronic devices such as cameras, tablets, rovers, and GPS equipment.
  • Must effectively use measuring devices such as rulers, tapes, protractors, calipers, levels, etc.
  • Must understand hazards and exhibit a serious attitude towards safety precautions.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret design plans and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to effectively communicate with the City, contractors and the public in order to exchange information and offer outstanding customer service.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, dependable passenger vehicle, good driving record and ability to receive and maintain a City Driving Permit.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geography, cartography, environmental science or related field.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Cityworks, ESRI Insights, and basic programming.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in a related field and one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education, experience and skills to perform the essential duties of the position.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to frequently and repetitively remove and replace manhole lids and drainage inlet grates, exerting up to 100 pounds of force.
  • Must be able to occasionally bend, crawl and stoop, crawl through culverts as small as 42 inches in height.
  • Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per day and stand for several hours at a time.
  • Must be able to carry equipment up to 30 pounds of equipment through difficult terrain.
  • Perform work under adverse weather and environmental conditions.
  • This position requires significant judgement and the ability to carry equipment up to 30 pounds through areas that require traveling by foot. Common examples include traversing difficult and uneven terrain, retaining structures, barriers, and various urban/rural conditions; encountering a wide range of animals, insects, vegetation, and weather conditions; interacting with public; and experiencing unforeseen conditions/situations in accessing and entering drainage features within the Right of Way, public, and private property.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: hammering, reaching, carrying, squatting, balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, discriminating among sounds, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, shouting above noises, visual acuity in data / color / observations / equipment / inspections, and walking.
