Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Respiratory Therapist Contract)
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Therapy Unit, Level III Trauma Center
• Location: Fayetteville, NC (North Carolina healthcare jobs, 28304)
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 5, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (06:00 – 18:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other weekend
• Float Requirement: May float within scope to meet facility needs or between like units
• Local Candidate Policy: Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the main campus
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1510-$1550

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in a hospital setting
• Active North Carolina or compact state RRT license
• Certification in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Experience with adult and pediatric patients in ICU preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Ability to pass advanced EKG exam (compliance requirement)
• Available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Return staff policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
• System contract limit: 2 contracts (can extend once, then must be gone for 6 months to return)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory therapy care to adult and pediatric patients in a busy hospital environment
• Assess, plan, and implement respiratory care for ICU and non-ICU patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to other respiratory therapy units as needed within scope of practice
• Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical records (EMR)
• Complete orientation and all required compliance modules prior to start
• Follow hospital policies, including makeup shifts for any callouts
