Artificial Intelligence (AI) Intern
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Intern will support MedPharm’s Information Technology department in evaluating, implementing, and expanding the use of AI-powered tools to improve operational efficiency across the organization. Over the course of a 10–12 week summer internship, the intern will work directly with the Director of IT to design and deploy AI-assisted workflows using platforms such as Anthropic’s Claude and Microsoft Copilot within the M365 ecosystem. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated student to apply AI knowledge in a real-world business setting and meaningfully contribute to MedPharm’s digital transformation initiatives.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Research, evaluate, and pilot AI tools and automation platforms (including Claude by Anthropic and Microsoft Copilot/M365 AI) to identify use cases applicable to MedPharm business operations.
- Design and develop AI-assisted workflows and prompt libraries to automate recurring administrative, communication, and data-handling tasks across departments.
- Collaborate with department stakeholders to identify process pain points that AI automation could address; document use cases, requirements, and results.
- Build and refine prompts, agents, or automation sequences within Microsoft 365 Copilot, SharePoint, Teams, and related tools.
- Evaluate the accuracy, safety, and effectiveness of AI-generated outputs within the context of MedPharm’s quality and compliance standards.
- Document AI implementation findings, best practices, and recommendations in a final internship report and present results to the IT team and relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with change management efforts related to AI tool adoption, including creating user guides and brief training materials for staff.
- Support the IT team with other projects and tasks as needed.
- Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior at an accredited college or university; open to computer science, engineering or data centric majors.
- Demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, or technology innovation.
- Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Microsoft Copilot preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook).
- Basic understanding of prompt engineering principles and AI tool evaluation frameworks is a plus.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent written communication skills; comfortable producing documentation, guides, and presentations.
- Self-directed, curious, and able to manage ambiguous projects with minimal supervision.
- Prior experience with Python, Power Automate, or other scripting/automation tools is a plus but not required.
