ER Nurse Job Details

• Position Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Emergency Department, Asheville, NC 28801
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00PM - 7:00AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/8/2025 – End: 12/8/2025)
• Unit Size: 101 beds
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 (ED behavioral holds)
• Documentation System: Cerner EMR
• Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1640 - $1680

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (North Carolina or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least 1 year in emergency room (ER) nursing
• Experience in Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume emergency department (100,000+ visits/year)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
• ENPC certification within 90 days of hire
• Strong teamwork mentality and flexibility to float within all areas of the ED
• Ability to coach peers and provide real-time feedback
• Commitment to respectful behavior and positive patient experience
• Navy scrubs required for all shifts

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to diverse patient populations
• Collaborate with techs, unit clerks, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Utilize advanced medical equipment and Cerner EMR documentation system
• Float to all sections of the emergency department as needed
• Maintain accurate patient boards and communicate effectively throughout each patient visit
• Follow unit guidelines, hospital policies, and attendance standards
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment
