Essential Job Duties | NC State Dining is looking for enthusiastic individuals to Join our Pack as a temporary Barista . Whether you are looking to sharpen your craft or jumpstart a career in hospitality, we offer meaningful employment opportunities across our retail and dining units. Primary job duties and responsibilities include:- Craft Quality Beverages: Prepare espresso-based beverages, shakes, smoothies, and other drinks while adhering to brand standards and health guidelines.
- Exceptional Guest Experience: Provide friendly, efficient service, and resolve customer concerns to the best of your ability. Communicate professionally with supervisors, peers, and guests.
- Technical Operation: Operate the micros system (point of sale) and process transactions accurately per university policy.
- Safety First: Maintain temperature and sanitation to ensure food safety, and ensure allergen safety protocols are followed.
- Other Duties: Receive and stock store merchandise, perform opening and closing duties of the unit, and additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

This is an hourly position with a 10-11 month assignment with a State mandatory 32-day break at the end of 11 months. NC State Dining provides campus wide food services to students, staff, and faculty on the North Carolina State University Campus. NC State Dining operates 11 cafes, 3 food courts and 6 dining halls, 3 markets, 2 restaurants, vending, a nutritional counseling service, and a catering department. Requirements and Preferences:
Work Schedule | Various shifts are available between the hours of 6:30 am - 11:00 pm. Shifts may rotate and vary depending on work location.
Other Work/Responsibilities:- Be an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university as a whole and enrich the quality of life for the campus community and support student success.
- Work as a cohesive team member and play an integral part in creating a positive work environment.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Dining’s business needs are met. Position may be asked to assist in other locations as necessary.
- Contribute to maintaining Grade A sanitation rating of 95% or better
Minimum Experience/Education :
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work will also be considered.

- Provide excellent customer service. Ability to remain professional, respectful, and composed under pressure when navigating difficult situations with guests or teammates.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment. Adapt quickly to changing customer volume level with a sense of urgency and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with customers, peers, supervisors, and multiple levels of employees within the University.
- Follow written and verbal instructions, paying close attention to details.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, twist, pull and push. Due to the nature of a food service operation, be comfortable working in a kitchen environment with exposure to extreme heat and cold conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lb with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education>
- Work experience in a coffee shop or high volume food experience.
- Cashier experience Proficient in the use of computers and email, and ability to learn new software programs.
- Allergen training.
