Software engineer
W2 ONLY- Sr. Python AWS Software Engineer - LOCAL ONLY- F2F required
Experience in both front and back-end programming using modern technologies. This role involves supporting scalable, user-focused applications on Cloud platforms. Responsibilities include developing software and tools, as well as troubleshooting, debugging, repairing, and upgrading complex software applications. The position requires collaborative problem-solving, attention to design, and a focus on product quality.
Responsibilities
* Translate application storyboards, stories, and use cases into functional software solutions
* Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
* Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications
* Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
* Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in computer science.
* In addition to required degree, 5-7 years related work experience.
* Advanced knowledge and aptitude in applicable computer systems, specifically Windows Server, Windows Workstation, and basic Linux knowledge.
* Proficient in JavaScript, including React.js and TypeScript.
* Proficient in Python.
* Proficient with Visual Studio Code IDE.
* Proficient working with GitHub in a shared environment.
* Working knowledge of Java, including its use, structure, and configuration.
* Working knowledge of C#.
* Working knowledge of AWS (Amazon Web Services) services and their application in a shared environment.
Desired Qualifications
* Working knowledge of Django.
* Working knowledge of Tomcat web services.
* Experience using CI/CD automation.
* Experience with PostgreSQL.
* Exposure to Progressive Web Applications (PWAs) and basic understanding.
* Effective communication skills with the ability to work within a team.
* Ability to work safely in an injury-free culture.
* Ability to work within the constraints of Duke Energy cybersecurity, architectural, and procedural standards, policies, and procedures.
* Ability to take direction and deliver results in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
* Effective interpersonal skills.
