Lead Digital Controls and Embedded Software Engineer
Eaton\u2019s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Lead Digital Controls and Embedded Software Engineer. \n\nThe expected annual salary range for this role is $105000 - $154000 a year. \n\nPlease note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n* This Hybrid role must work on-site 3 days weekly at our Raleigh, NC facility. Relocation assistance is available for a qualified candidate currently residing in the US. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nPosition Overview:\n\n \nAs a Lead Digital Controls and Embedded Software Engineer you will support our product development and design of our high-power three-phase UPS\u2019s. This role also supports products in our Energy Storage, Battery and Data Center Power Distribution product lines. \n\n \nYou will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing and designing advanced real-time DSP algorithms for advanced power conversion applications in the power quality industry.\n\n \nThe role includes all aspects of product design life cycle from concept to production as part of a global, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. If you have a passion for design of power electronics-centric controls design and development, this role is for you.\n\n \nIn this role you will: \n\u2022 Successfully launch critical power infrastructure products that meet customer requirements and Eaton safety, quality, reliability, cost and schedule commitments. \n\u2022 Leverage your skill and experience by giving guidance and leadership to other technical project team members. \n\u2022 Work with global product development teams to solve problems related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality and component availability. \n\u2022 Develop mathematical models and algorithms for advanced DSP controls of electronic power conversion products. \n\u2022 Evaluate competing controls architectures, designs to select the best suited for the application. \n\u2022 Apply controls theory to design controllers to achieve target product performance. \n\u2022 Develop simulations using MATLAB/Simulink simulation environment and verify control designs through simulations. \n\u2022 Validate designs using Real time simulation systems such as OPAL-RT. \n\u2022 Participate as team member in new product development projects (uninterruptible power systems, energy storage and advanced technology products) while meeting schedule, cost and product performance goals. Interface closely with cross-functional team members. \n\u2022 Review product development requirement specifications including product management and customer requirements. \n\u2022 Analyze, design and assist in testing/troubleshooting control system software used in uninterruptible power systems and other power quality products. \n\u2022 Apply best engineering practices and decision making for advanced technical problem solving. \n\u2022 Foster an environment that promotes Eaton\u2019s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement.\n\nWhen we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we \u2014 as individuals and as a company \u2014 are stronger.\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 5 years work industry work experience in real-time digital controls and algorithms for power electronics or industrial products \u2026 OR\u2026. \n\n\u2022 MS in Electrical or related Engineering degree from an accredited institution with minimum 3 years of industry work experience in real-time digital controls and algorithms for power electronics or industrial products \u2026 OR \u2026. \n\u2022 PhD in Electrical or related engineering degree from an accredited institution with minimum 1 years of industry work experience in real-time digital controls and algorithms for power electronics or industrial products.\n\n\u2022 Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.\u201d \n\n\u2022 Candidate will not need sponsorship now or in the future.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Masters\u0027 degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.\n\n\u2022 Design experience with UPS and/or power electronic products . \n\u2022 Experience in new product development. \n\u2022 Experience with Hardware in Loop real time simulators such as OPAL-RT.\n\n\u2022 Extensive knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink tools including Control Toolbox, StateFlow, Optimization Verification \u0026 Filter Designs \n\u2022 Strong academic understanding of analog \u0026 digital control theory along with digital filter designs \n\u2022 Experience in design of closed loop control systems. \n\u2022 Knowledge of three phase electrical power systems. \n\u2022 Knowledge and experience in C/C++ coding.\n\n\u2022 Strong academic understanding of analog \u0026 digital control theory along with digital filter designs. \n\u2022 Previous Coursework in power electronics . \n\u2022 Work in lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical.\n\n\u2022 Strong project management skills .\n\n\u2022 Must possess effective and verbal communications skills. \n\u2022 Must possess good organizational and prioritization skills to maintain and address multiple assigned projects and expectations.\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
