Position Description:
We’re seeking a General Maintenance Technician to join our team in [Hendersonville, NC] . In this role, you’ll perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a wide range of commercial and industrial building systems — including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire life safety systems.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively with customers and team members, and takes pride in maintaining safe, efficient facilities. You’ll be cross-trained across multiple systems and operate under a “flow to the work” concept to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) and emergency repairs on facility systems and equipment.
- Conduct regular facility rounds to identify performance issues, monitor system operation, and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of building systems including:
- HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Fire life safety systems and emergency lighting
- Motors, drives, pumps, valves, and pneumatic controls
- Dock equipment (doors, levelers, locks, and seals)
- Building and exterior lighting systems
- Maintain detailed service records within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Order parts, create purchase orders, and coordinate with vendors as needed.
- Support and occasionally lead maintenance projects, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time completion.
- Follow all safety protocols, including OSHA and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and site management, keeping stakeholders informed of work progress and completion timelines.
Required Skills & Education:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical training preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in building or industrial maintenance (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC). Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license
- Forklift and aerial lift (JLG/scissor lift) certifications preferred or willingness to obtain
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of building systems and facility operations
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Competency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Experience with CMMS software and building automation systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) and basic digital communication tools
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong time management and organizational abilities
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a commercial, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Familiarity with variable frequency drives (VFDs), MCC panels, and PLCs
- Basic carpentry and painting skills
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
