Position Overview

Lead our shop operations as Mechanic/Shop Manager maintaining high-end commercial and residential fleet equipment. Ensure minimal downtime for our prestigious customer base through expert diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on diesel trucks, commercial mowers, small engines, and compact construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair:

• Service, repair, and maintain diesel and gas trucks, commercial mowers, 2-cycle equipment
• Diagnose and repair compact construction equipment (track loaders, excavators, mini skid steers)
• Perform preventive maintenance on entire landscape equipment fleet
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems

Shop Management:

• Manage day-to-day shop operations and workflow prioritization
• Coordinate equipment repairs with minimal fleet downtime
• Maintain organized parts inventory and ordering systems
• Schedule and track maintenance records for all equipment
• Paint and detail fleet vehicles as needed
• Ensure safety compliance and proper tool maintenance

Technical Skills Required:

• Small engine repair on 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines (trimmers, blowers, chainsaws)
• Diesel engine diagnostics and repair on commercial trucks
• Heavy equipment hydraulics and electrical troubleshooting
• Commercial mower repair (zero-turn, walk-behind, stand-on units)
• Fleet maintenance scheduling and documentation

Requirements

Experience & Certifications:

• Minimum 2+ years professional automotive/small equipment experience
• Strong working knowledge of diesel and gas engine systems
• Experience with compact construction equipment preferred
• Small engine repair certification preferred
• Automotive/diesel mechanic certifications a plus

Essential Skills:

• Preventive maintenance expertise across multiple equipment types
• Troubleshooting abilities for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently
• Attention to detail and quality workmanship

Requirements:

• Valid NC Driver's License (clean driving record)
• Must pass drug screen and background check
• Own basic hand tools preferred
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly
• Work in shop environment with various weather exposures
