Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level IV NICU position at an academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring 2 years of NICU experience and NRP certification.
Details
- Level IV NICU at a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma hospital with 885 licensed adult beds and 196 pediatric beds
- Patient population includes premature infants from 23 weeks gestation through term, with varying acuity levels including surgical patients (NEC, CDH, etc.)
- Average daily census of 71 patients
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation (minimum)
- No on-call requirements
- Floating may be required to General Pediatrics, PICU, Adolescent Pediatrics, and Pediatric Hem/Onc
- EMR: Epic
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in basic ventilator management, central line management, and pre/post-surgical care
- Experience with tracheostomy management, G-tube management, and blood transfusions
- Infant venous stick skills required
- Breastfeeding support, bottle feeding, and gavage feeding experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- Unit is supported by nursing assistants at a 1:20 ratio and 2 Charge RNs per shift
- Orientation includes NEO onboarding plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- Time off requests require Resource Team approval
- Scrubs: Royal Blue
