Position Summary

Utilizes the nursing process including; assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and recordings of patient care. Teaches, delegates, and supervises other nursing staff in the provision of care. Coordinates services with other members of the healthcare team to provide complex patient care. Practices within the scope of the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act and Person Memorial Hospital policies/procedures/standards.

Reports to: Director of Surgical Services

Responsibilities of the Position

Providers Clinical Leadership

Identifies and communicates appropriately all department needs and works with other towards resolution.

Mentors others to recognize changes in patient status and assists in the management of complex and or unpredictable patients.

Delegates care based on the needs of the patients or staff competency/qualifications.

Communicates with Manager and other healthcare providers in a timely and professional manner.

Performs other functions as required or assigned.

Minimum Education

Successful completion of the Nursing Diploma Program or an Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited school is required.

Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Certifications/Licenses

Active and valid Registered Nurse License is required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) is required through American Heart Association upon hire.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) is required within 90 days of hire.

Required Skills

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Minimum Work Experience

2-3 years of recent RN experience a healthcare setting.
