Job Title: CNC Machinist (1st Shift) Job Description

This role involves setting up, operating, and editing programs on CNC equipment, with a primary focus on a CNC QuickMill, as well as using manual mills and lathes to finalize parts. You will work with Fanuc controls, G-codes, and tight tolerances to produce high-quality components in a busy manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC QuickMill equipment to produce precision parts according to specifications.
  • Program and edit CNC programs using Fanuc controls and G-codes to ensure accurate and efficient machining operations.
  • Use manual mills and manual lathes to finalize parts and perform secondary operations as needed.
  • Perform drilling and other machining processes to meet part requirements and production goals.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and proper setups.
  • Conduct quality inspections using appropriate measuring tools to verify tolerances and ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Perform changeovers efficiently, including tooling changes, fixture setup, and program adjustments to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor machines during operation, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Apply basic welding skills when required to support part fabrication or repair tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety procedures in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist working on mills or lathes.
  • Hands-on experience operating CNC machines in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with Fanuc controls, including programming and program editing.
  • Experience working with G-codes for CNC machining operations.
  • Ability to set up and run manual lathes and manual mills.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
  • Experience performing quality inspections and working with tight tolerances.
  • Ability to perform changeovers and machine operating tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort working in a dirty, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work 1st shift hours and, when needed, extended hours within the defined overtime schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience running or learning unique or specialized CNC equipment such as a QuickMill.
  • Basic welding experience to support machining and fabrication tasks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills in a machining environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and different machining setups.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a production setting.

Work Environment

This position is based in a heavy manufacturing facility that is dirty and non-climate controlled. Heaters are available to keep employees warm in the winter, but temperatures can become extremely hot in the summer. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours). Overtime is not assigned until you can work productively on your own. For those working overtime, the maximum schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The company makes a strong effort to avoid Saturday work so employees can maintain a two-day weekend.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $34.00/hr.
