About the Hiring Group Technology Advancement & Commercialization TAC provides scientific and engineering solutions for difficult problems existing in the fields of health, energy and environment. In TAC, applied research and development, along with prototyping and scale-up activities, are concentrated in numerous research and application labs, as well as in a pilot plant facility located on RTI’s main campus. What You'll DoREU intern would work in a variety of wet labs and characterization labs towards preparing novel porous materials, characterizing their physicochemical properties, and benchmarking their phosphorous capture performance. The student would learn synthetic skills, fundamentals of characterization (spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, microscopy, surface area analysis), and writing reports/publications to contextualize their findings. What You'll Need Participants must be available to begin the program on the start date and are required to attend the entire ten-week program. Any proposed conflicts should be included on the application.Participants are expected to participate in the program full time (Monday – Friday). Courses, activities, and/or jobs that conflict with this are strongly discouraged. Any conflicts must be discussed with program administrators and faculty mentors before participating in the program.Participants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with at least one remaining semester before graduation. (Graduating seniors are not eligible.)
