Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a night shift Oncology/Women's Surgical position in Asheville, NC, requiring 2 years of oncology experience and an active ONC certification.

Details

• Work on a 24-bed Oncology/Women's Surgical unit (9th floor) in an inpatient hospital setting
• Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• Unit staffing includes a Charge Nurse (CNC), 4–6 RNs, 2 CNAs, and (on days) a HUC per shift
• Charting performed in Cerner EMR
• Procedures performed on the unit include occasional pelvic exams, echocardiograms, and thoracentesis
• Floating may occur to other med/surg units, though the team rarely floats
• 6 weekend days required per schedule
• On-call is rare

Requirements

• Active RN license — NC or compact license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC) required for all RNs working in oncology
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in oncology
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
• Chemo certification is preferred but not required
• Team players with a willingness to learn are the best fit for this unit
• RN dress code: navy, white, or a combination of both colors
• Cerner EMR experience is beneficial given its use on the unit
