Medical Surgical RN Director
The Medical Surgical RN Director opportunity offers an exciting chance to lead both Med/Surg and ICU services within a respected Community Medical Center in north central North Carolina. This Medical Surgical RN Director role is well suited for an experienced nurse leader who enjoys being close to the bedside while shaping culture, quality, and growth across inpatient services.
The Medical Surgical RN Director will join a Community Medical Center with deep roots in its region and a long-standing reputation for dependable, high-quality care. The Medical Surgical RN Director reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and plays a key role within the senior nursing leadership team. A Nurse Manager reports up to the Medical Surgical RN Director, supporting daily operations across Med/Surg, ICU, and inpatient dialysis. The Medical Surgical RN Director will also collaborate closely with physicians, ancillary leaders, and hospital operations partners to keep care delivery aligned and efficient.
The Medical Surgical RN Director oversees a combined 29-bed Medical/Surgical unit and a 5-bed ICU, with an average daily census around 25 patients. This scope includes team members across RN, LPN, CNA, and telemetry roles, as well as a growing inpatient dialysis service. The Medical Surgical RN Director will find a professional, supportive culture where teamwork, strong physician relationships, and steady patient flow create a rewarding pace.
The Medical Surgical RN Director is responsible for clinical leadership across education, staff development, mentoring, and maintaining high standards for patient safety and quality outcomes. This Medical Surgical RN Director role also carries administrative responsibility for staffing, budgeting, compliance, performance improvement, and operational oversight, including readiness for regulatory standards and surveys. The position allows the Medical Surgical RN Director to remain visible and approachable while guiding long-term strategy and day-to-day excellence.
